Understanding Release Liner Paper: Types, Characteristics, and Selection

Release liner paper, also known as backing paper, comes in three main varieties: white grid, blue grid, and yellow grid. The primary difference between these types is their color. White and blue grid papers are more commonly used in thermal paper applications.

This specialized backing paper is designed for high-speed roll-to-roll printing, die-cutting, and automatic labeling processes. It offers excellent die-cutting performance and possesses good thickness and light transmission properties.

White thick backing paper boasts superior flatness, making it ideal for sheet-fed applications. It maintains good strength when die-cut on either flat-bed or rotary equipment.

Each type of release liner has its own unique advantages and characteristics. When selecting the appropriate backing paper, consider your labeling method – whether you require roll materials or cut sheets – and choose accordingly.

In summary, the choice of release liner depends on your specific application needs. By understanding the properties of each type and matching them to your labeling process, you can select the most suitable backing paper for your project.
